Product Demand

It has been proven that even the most focused products will not sell if a demand does not exist for them. When marketing products, it is simply a case of supply and demand. In other words, there is no need to supply something that people do not want. And as you begin to research demand, focus on keywords with at least 20 searches per day. Assessing the demand for a product or idea is an important part of online marketing (which will be discussed in greater detail in later modules).

A great tool to check the demand for particular products may be found at Wordtracker (http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com). With this tool, you may compare the search results of different product ideas to help you determine which products have the highest demand.

Another tool that you may use to determine product demand is the eBay Past Auction Tool. If you are a registered user of eBay, you may use the following process to search for products on their site:

  1. Go to www.eBay.com and Login (or you will be directed1. to login after step four).
  2. Click on the "Advanced Search" link in the navigation bar on the top of the page.
  3. Enter keyword(s) for you product ideas in the "Enter keyword or item number" box (select a category if you wish).
  4. Check the "Completed listings only" box (because you want to look at auctions that are over).
  5. Click the Search button to begin your search.

This tool may give you a very good idea of people's buying habits within certain product categories.
